After another solid week, 4-1, the Doc is now 7-3 on the season. But things get even tougher this week with some big matchups in both college and the NFL. Let's get it going...
Boston College at Missouri Tigers- This matchup intrigues me. As a Mizzou fan, I am waiting for the other shoe to fall. We all remember the games from the past that cost the Tigers a perfect season or ruined a chance at a huge bowl bid. This could be that game. Boston College is no slouch at 2-0 and so far are worthy of the 24th ranking in the country. Meanwhile, Missouri is sitting at 6th in the country. Is Eli Drinkwitz's team worthy of that ranking? We are about to find out. This matchup is the marquee matchup on Saturday, as it's the only game in the country featuring two ranked teams. As good old Jim Ross used to say, "This one might be a slobber knocker." Missouri is favored by 16, which I feel is high. I'm still going with the Tigers to win, but after two shutouts of two much weaker opponents, Mizzou gets smacked in the mouth a bit. Mizzou 32, Boston College 20.
Bengals at Chiefs-We all know Andy Reid's success when he has extra time to prepare for a team. We also know Joe Burrow is 5-1 against the Chiefs. Yes, Burrow struggled last week and yes, the Bengals are more like the Bungles right now, but I think they are going to head into the Kansas City and give the defending champs everything they have and then some. Patrick Mahomes will be ready, as will that KC defense. The Chiefs are 5.5 favorites and I think they cover, but it's close. Chiefs 24, Bengals 17.
Tampa Bay at Detroit-This game interests me. I am a fan of Detroit, but also love seeing Baker Mayfield's career resurgence. I've been a fan of his since his college days. Tampa is going to make some noise this season, however, the Lions as a team, are just on another level. Detroit is favored by 7.5, which again, I feel is a bit high. I'm still taking Detroit to win. Lions 26, Bucs 22.
Indianapolis at Green Bay- The Packers are dogs at home. Indy is favored by a field goal, and I think the Colts win by that. Is it time to panic of the Pack goes 0-2? Not a chance! It's a long season, so I'm not ready to panic about the Packers yet. Indy is going to be a feisty opponent this season. Colts 20, Packers 17.
Chicago at Houston-This is the Sunday night game of the week, which I find particularly interesting. Houston is favored by 6 points at home. Chicago is coming off an ugly win. Is Houston a good team? Yes, they are quite talented, but I think many are viewing them as a bit better than they truly are. CJ Stroud is legit, and his wide receivers are talented. I'm not ready to anoint the Texans as the cream of the crop though. Chicago, for the first time, seems to have hope. The Bears have improved, but just how much? We will find out Sunday night in Houston. I'm taking a risk here, but I like Chicago to not only cover but win the game. It will be a coming out party for Chicago and quarterback Caleb Williams. It won't be a pretty win, but I think the Bears get it done. Bears 22, Texans 20.
